USA Basketball

Over this past week I have been watching the USA basketball team play in Las Vegas for the FIBA tournament. This is a basketball tournament that several different nations participate in to see if that team will represent their country in the next summer Olympics. The USA team is playing very well and is crushing teams that they play. They defeated Puerto Rico by a margin of about thirty five. It seems that the team is just toying with these other nations’ teams because winning looks so easy for this team. They have no competition and there is absolutely no reason they should go undefeated in this tournament and win it. The team consists of some of the best NBA all-stars that can be thought of. Names such as LeBron James, Carmello Anthony, Kobe Bryant, and Jason Kidd are among some of the few. No other team has the skill or the size to match up with this USA team. In a way it seems to be unfair for the other squads but it is the way things have to be done. I feel our country is being represented very well by this basketball team and will surely win the gold in this coming summer Olympics. We have the best talent, in my opinion, of any squad that will play in the Olympics and should have no problem winning that gold medal. If the team plays with the same style that they have been playing with in this FIBA tournament than I really do not see any problems. Another reason for this is that the bench players on this USA team are all-star players also. So no matter who Coach K decides to play in the games that player is a NBA all-star. The USA team filled a gap that hurt them in the last summer Olympics. This is they recruiting of pure three point shooter. International basketball is more about jump shots than post play and the USA team this year has that in Mike Miller and Chauncy Billups. The team should win the gold and win this weeks FIBA tournament without any problems.
